OUR SERVICES

At People’s Social Services, we offer hands-on, person-centered support to help you navigate life’s systems with confidence. Whether you're applying for benefits, looking for housing, or just need someone to walk you through what comes next—we’re here for you.

ID & Document Assistance

We help you gather what you need, complete forms, and even accompany you to appointments to get your ID, birth certificate, or other documents.

We know the process can be confusing—especially if you’re missing documents, unsure what to bring, or overwhelmed by appointments. We’ll walk you through every step, help fill out forms, and even go with you if you’d like. We’ve helped clients get:

  • State IDs or driver’s permits

  • Birth certificates

  • Social Security cards

  • Name changes and legal documentation

You Might Need This If…

“I lost my ID years ago and can’t remember what I need to bring to the DMV.”
“I need a birth certificate to apply for housing, but I’m not sure how to request it.”
“I don’t have transportation, so I haven’t been able to go to the Social Security office.”

These are exactly the kinds of situations we support every day. Whether you’re starting from scratch or just stuck on one step, we’ll walk through it together.

Public Benefits Navigation

We walk you through applying for programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and other public benefits—making sure you know what’s needed, how to apply, and what to expect. We can also help you follow up if you’ve already applied but haven’t heard back.

Benefits applications can feel overwhelming or unclear. We’ll help you understand what you qualify for, gather the right documents, and complete the forms. If needed, we’ll help contact agencies, follow up on missing paperwork, or translate steps into plain language.

You Might Need This If…

“I’ve never applied for benefits before and don’t know if I’m eligible.”
“I submitted something a while ago but haven’t received a response.”
“I got denied before, but my situation has changed—I’m not sure if I can try again.”

Whether it’s your first time or you’ve tried before, we’re here to walk through it together—step by step.

Housing
Support

We support individuals and families facing housing challenges—whether you’re unhoused, couchsurfing, or trying to avoid eviction. We help you understand available options and connect with trusted resources.

We’ll talk through your current situation and help you find the next best step. That might mean connecting you with shelters or transitional housing, helping you apply for rental assistance, or advocating with a landlord. We know the system, and we’ll help you move through it with clarity and care.

You Might Need This If…

“I don’t have a stable place to stay and need help figuring out where to go.”
“I just got a notice from my landlord and I’m scared I might lose my housing.”
“I need help applying for rental assistance or supportive housing programs.”

We know how stressful housing issues can be. You don’t have to face them alone.
